I have a diverse background as a result of growing up in Hawaii and attending school in Washington.
I completed my PADI divemaster certification, gained my AAUS scientific diver certification, and began volunteer diving at the Seattle Aquarium. Various marine education jobs I've held include deckhand/educator for a tall ship, naturalist for the Environmental Science Center, and educator for Pacific Marine Research.
I was fortunate to be invited to the Mediterranean for an internship in the summer of 2013. RPM Nautical Foundation is a non-profit research and educational organization that focuses on marine archeology.
RPM Nautical also partnered with the University of Malta in offering and instructing a Seafloor Mapping Class. I was able to attend, and photograph the entire course.
The Waitt Institute funded a project concerning rapid ocean conservation in Ksamil Bay, Albania. I volunteered to assist setting up GoPro cameras throughout the bay, before the R/V Hercules arrived to multi-beam the seafloor.
Through the aquatic and fishery sciences program at the UW, I've developed many technical and analytical skills that will be tremendously helpful in my career. I'm currently completing a senior capstone project on Giant Pacific Octopus. See my blog for details!
